Francesco Bagnaia Will Start The Catalan Grand Prix From Pole Position After A Dramatic Qualifying Session At The Circuit De Barcelona Catalunya

MotoGP: Pole position for Bagnaia at Catalan GP as Quartararo crashes out

Francesco Bagnaia will start the Catalan Grand Prix from pole position after a dramatic qualifying session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The Italian rider set a time of 1:38.773 on his final lap of Q2 to snatch pole from Aron Canet by just 0.004 seconds. Jorge Martin will start third for Pramac Racing, with reigning world champion Fabio Quartararo crashing out of the session and forced to start from 15th.

Bagnaia's pole position is his third of the season and comes after a difficult start to the year for the Ducati rider. He has now won two of the last three races and will be looking to extend his lead in the championship standings this weekend.

Quartararo's crash will come as a major blow to his title hopes. The Frenchman has won three races this season but has also crashed out of two. He will now have to fight his way through the field from 15th on the grid if he wants to challenge for the victory.

The Catalan Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 5 June. The race will start at 14:00 CEST.
